Choose what you want to focus on

Not every adult has the same goal.

You might want to speak Punjabi with your parents or grandparents.

You might want to understand and join in with conversations at family gatherings.

You might want to learn how to read and write Punjabi for the first time.

That is why our adult beginners can follow one of three learning pathways:

Speaking & Listening

For adults who want to understand Punjabi and speak with more confidence.

Build your vocabulary, learn how to form sentences and practise having real conversations.

Lessons include role plays, conversation practice, listening activities, games, quizzes and personalised vocabulary.

Reading & Writing

For adults who want to learn how to recognise, read and write Gurmukhi.

Start with the letters and sounds, then gradually build towards reading and writing Punjabi words and sentences.

No previous knowledge of Gurmukhi is needed.

All four skills

For adults who want a complete Punjabi education.

Develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing together through one personalised learning plan.

Not sure which pathway is right for you? That is completely fine.

We can help you choose.

You have wanted to learn Punjabi for years. Life just kept getting in the way.

Perhaps Punjabi was spoken around you growing up, but you were never taught how to speak it.

You might understand a few words or sentences, but struggle to join in properly.

You might sit with family while everyone speaks Punjabi and feel like you are missing part of the conversation.

And as your parents and grandparents get older, being able to speak with them can begin to feel even more important.

You want to ask them questions.

You want to understand their stories.

You want to speak to them in the language that feels most natural to them.

You have not missed your chance.

We will never judge you for what you do or do not already know. We will start at your level and help you build your confidence one step at a time.

No. We teach you from your starting position. So if you are complete beginners we assume no knowledge. If you have some experience, then we incorpate that into your personalised learning plan.

That's completely fine. We can offer two 30 minute lessons during the week instead.

What resources do we need at home?

Nothing complicated. We'll provide the learning resources and booklets you need. You'll just need access to a printer, plus a few basics like a notepad and pen. If anything different is needed for a lesson, your tutor will let you know beforehand.

Absolutely. If you would like to learn Punjabi alongside Paath, Gurmukhi reading or Sikhi, choose our Bespoke Tuition option. We can create a more personalised learning plan around your goals.

That's completely normal. It's one of the reasons we start with a free introduction session. We build their confidence gradually through role plays, games, stories and activities.

All lessons take place online using Google Meet, so your child can learn from home wherever you are in the world. Once you're set up with your tutor, we'll send you everything you need to join your lessons.
